- Provides bursaries to help fund assessments to individuals and groups.
Some of the projects The Trust has undertaken in the past:
Run a range of holiday groups for children from chocolate making to wall climbing and golf days
Has support research projects to further the understanding of DCD and Dyspraxia
Funded specialist equipment
Organised training for educational and health professionals and run conferences on the difficulties and how to help and support individuals and their families across the UK
Written a children’s book – Jack and The Disorganised Dragon- available free from Trust
Provided bursaries for individuals to obtain assessments and support
Undertaken a project looking at improving communication with those working with adults with DCD and related difficulties
Developed a comprehensive website with a message board to provide support.
Is currently involved with projects:
Developing social skills programmes for children and adults with DCD and related difficulties such as Asperger’s Syndrome
Supporting a national consensus meeting with Leeds University
Supporting holiday groups
Providing bursaries for assessments where appropriate
Undertaking an inter-regional project with West Wales and Ireland with other partners
Developing a computerised screening tool to identify specific learning difficulties in 11 plus age group
Developing a computer screening tool to identify specific learning difficulties in the 16- in student population
Pilot programme to look at specific learning difficulties in the prison population and among young offenders
