Subject: aching joints/growing pains
Message: hi
i have just read on one of the postings something about growing pains and joint pains. My son was seen in casualty a couple of times with suspected fractures and sprains after he could not put any pressure on one foot to walk. After a couple of visits a doctor suggested it was down to accelarated growth and that his bones were growing too fast for the blood supply to keep up. ( i think i was fobbed off to be truthful). Ryan still suffers with really bad aching joints which click constantly and growing pains which actually bring him to tears. The pains in his legs actually make him limp and he needs to take painkillers to ease the pain. He is only 11 and i am just wondering whether this is actually linked to him being dyspraxic or is it a coincidence?

Message: My son had lots of leg pains at about age 11 these were attributed to growing pains but I did discover that things improved when he used foot inserts in his shoes [he has flat feet] which helped enormously. His joints click still and hes now 19!!

Message: your should try and get your son to see a physiotherapist to have a look in more detail about his joint pains

Message: My daughter has had a lot of aching legs in the past. She had a collection of other dyspraxic type problems as well. She has been diagnosed with dyspraxia and hypermobility, and all her joints give more than normal. I didn't realise this till an OT pointed it out. She now has built up insoles in her shoes which correct her posture.
